In 1982 in South Africa, PresMed Investments was founded by Carl Grillenberger when he
established a number of small multi-disciplinary day surgeries. 3 years later PresMed was
listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and grew to one of the top 5 hospital and day
surgery groups in the country.
PresMed merged its business with the Lifecare Clinics
Group headed by Managing Director, Marc Resnik, to become one the major healthcare companies
in the country in 1996.
A decision was made to set up a separate company in Australia and in 1997 PresMed Australia
was established in Sydney with the objective of specialising in the investment, commissioning
and management of ophthalmic day surgery facilities.
